NEW PLYMOUTH BREAKWATER PROTECTION FUND.
A meeting of subscribers to the Harbor Protection Fund will be held in the Council Chambers to-night at 7.45. Captain Edwin telegraphed at 1 .30 today:— " North-east to north and west gale, with rain and heavy sea within 12 hours from now ; glass fa*!," The Tukapa footbail team will hold a practice to morrow afternoon. The notices of motion standing in the Hon. Mr Kelly's name, which refer to revised lists of salaries for teachers, were deferred at the Education Board meeting to day (Wednesday) till next meeting. Mr C. Rogers has an advertisement in ~ -this issue announcing that ho is resuming hia connection with the Government Insurance Department. Mr F. P. Corkill reports the sale of the lease of the Taranaki Hotel, tho purchaser being Mr Charles Tate, late of the Hutt. At the Marton meeting to-day Mutioy ran second to Jack in the open Flying Handicap Mutiny was also engaged in the Autumn Handicap, 1| miles, but the result of this event had not come to hand when we went to press.
