WRECK OF THE ANNIE WILSON.
Mr T. A. Murphy, Collector of Customs, returned to town on Tuesday evening from a visit to the wreck of the schooner Annie Wilson on the Oeo beach. On Monday Mr Murphy held at the Oeo Hotel a preliminary enquiry into tho circumstances of tho wreck. Evidence was given by J. Murray, the captain, who stated tbat on ace unt of the thick weather on Friday bo lost his bearings, nnd by bis calculations he considered he should have been around Cnpe Egmnnr, when the vessel struck between 3 and 4 v. m. on Saturday. A careful look out was ke/t, and ho bimsolf whs on deck some time before and at the time the schooner struck, do only obtained a glimpse of the land just before the schooner struck. The mnto (C Thompson), tho look out (Andrew McDonald), and the helmsman (OBcar Nystrim), also gave evidence, which was corroborative o£ the captain's. Mr Murphy will forwar 1 tho evidence taken to ellington. The vessel lies on a rocky beach, and there is no prospect of getting her off. In fact, when Mr Murphj loft she was com moncingto break up.
