NEW PLYMOUTH LARRIKINS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — 1 luvo often hoard of the Now Plymouth Band, and in ench terms (hat I was very anxious to hear i;. But, sir, I never hmrd about your larrikin?, ond they wero so strongly in evidnnco on Monday night that a fi rst-clatß performance was completely marred. Such a disgraceful insult to n bandmaster and band playing voluntarily 1 should not have conceived possible in New Plymouth, or anywhere cl.-c I hope before I leave to hear your Band, for 1 am sure the repetition of such conduct on the part of a few louts would not bo tolerated by the men of the place, or allowed by the police. Where were the latter on Monday night ?— I am, &c, A Visitor.;

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— Being one of those present at the open air concert given by the Town Band on Monday evening, I was surprised at the - amount of larrikinism prevalent. I have always been under tho impression that New Plymouth was such a model. town ; but lam sorry to say I find I am sadly mistaken. Tho guardians of the law were, I observed, conspicuous by their absence, and this undoubtedly gave the boys (perhaps tiioy would like to be called young men) an opportunity.: to carry on their silly pranks. The enjoyableaeas, of ' • what otherwise would have been a long j looked for musical treat, was spoilt by their behaviour; but I hope that this disgrace- , ful conduct will not occur again.— lam, &c, A Visitob. j
