PROPOSED NEW RIDING.

TO THE tDITOR. Sir, — I notice an advertisement in your valuable paper respecting an alteration ia our riding, signed by two ratepayers in the Waitara West District and two in the Fitzroy Bistrict The two who signed for the Fitzroy District are both ratepayers in the Egmont Road District, therefore do not represent the Fitzroy District alone. It is to be hoped the Fitzroy ratepayers will not be Jod away, but eond a petition to the Council asking to remain as we are. The Council have done all that we Fitzroy people have asked. We are in the minority now, and will be worse off if the new new riding is carried, which it is to be hoped the Council will refuse. If tho Fitzroy people who have signed the advertisement want the Egmont Road made a County road, and are wiling to pay an extra rate, then I cannot blame them for siguing for the alteration, which cannot benefit the Fitzroy ratepayers. -I am, &c, A Henui Road Board Ratepayer.
