MEMORIAL TO THE LATE SIR HARRY ATKINSON.

A meeting of thoso interested in raising a memorial to the late Sir Harry Atkinson washeld in the Council Chambers on Friday night. Present : His Worship the Ma3'or (chairman), Archdeacon Govett, Messrs F. W. Richmond, C. Rennoll, C. Carter. A. Standi.ib, R. G. Bauchope, and E. Dockrill.

Sdb -Committee Appointed. — His Worship explained that tho movement had been initiated in Hawera, and it was the object to raiso the memorial in Wellington. — After discussion the following subcommittee was appointed, with powor to add to their number, to conduct the work in connection with tho movement in this district: — His Worship the Mayor, Archdeacon Govett, Colonel Stipp, Major Ellis, Captain Paul, E. M. Smith, M.H R , R. Parris, F. A. Carringtoo, O. Samu-1, C Rennell, H. Weston, F. W. Richmond, D. Berry, J. B. Roy, R. C. Hughee, R. Cock, W. Bayly, H. Witchoil, N. K. MacDiarmid, A. E. A. Clark, S.Fraser, T.King, Nowton King, J. C. George, A. C. Fookes, F. L. Webßter, W. L). Web3ter, J. S. McKellar, Dr. O'Carroll, Dr. Leatham, C. Carter, W. L. Newman, A. Standisb, R. G. Bauchopo, and all the members of the Borough Council.

Tha Committee met afterwards, and resolved that the Mayor be Chairman, and the Town Clerk, hon. secretory and treasurer. It was further deeded that uubscription lists bo placed in the Town Clerk's office, and that it be advertised that bu ascriptions will be received there, and that the lists be closed on Decembor 8. The Committee also decided that a general Committee meeting be held in the Council Chambers on Friday, December 9, at 8 o'clock, and that the Chairman may call a meeting at any time if necessary.
