To these, however, he paid np attention, but, in a loud voice, began!; to. assail his royal customer's charabteir.rAt length the company got tired \ of i-merely, yelling, ,and (eminently respectable middle-aged gentlemen tho-igh they mostly woro) commenced throwing first champagne corks, and then apples, oranges, nuts, and bananas at their obnoxious colleague. The, chairman (Mr Murdoch, MJP.) told tho matt, or rather bawled at him, that he coulil not bo allowed to speak tinder any circumstances, and ought never to havo disgraced their body by coming there , The would-be orator there-upo-v threatened to break 'the hon. gentleman's something head, and tried to get at him, but was neatly burked by a number of guests pushing back their chuirs and blocking the gangway. For some minutes this extraordinary and perplexing uproar continued, and thenthe disturber supplied the. key tq,the.puzzle by yelling in stentorian tones : . J? I tell you they deal at the stores." Indescribable hubbub and a perfect Bhowerbathofmissiles.includingtwofingerglaßßes, greeted this uttoranco. Fortunately the professional " chucker out " now appeared on the scene, and with some difficulty removed tho dissatisfied Bhopkeeperr Hardly, however, had peaco been, restored when another speaker (an irascible' old gentleman) commenced to growl about "the cheeseparing policy of Gloucester House." Of course this could not be permitted either, and after " boohing " him down tho party broko up in noisy disorder.
