[FROM OUR RESIDENT AGENT.] January 15. — The ladies of the English Church met yesterday afternoon, and arranged matters in connection with tho tea meeting that is to eventuate on the 11th of next month. The event which the social gathering is intended to celebrate is one of no small importance in tlie history of the Church in these parts,' being the .appointment of the firßt residentminister. Hitherto, Church of England peoplo have been left almost to themselves, visits of the clergy having boen few and far between, and there is little doubt that had this state of things lasted a lit* le longer, the flock so long without a shepherd would have dwindled until the pastor would have found himself a shepherd without a flock. The contractor is here, and is apparently sanguine as to putting the three miles through by the end of summer, The County Council has been sitting all day. Rumours are afloat that some mistake has been mado in the levels of the footpaths which the Town Board has laid down,.
