EDUCATION BOARD.
The Education Board met on Wednesday. Present: Miss Heywood, Messrs T. Kelly (chairman), Bauchope, Olson, Teed, Faull, Ad lam, Andrews, and Wade. Rowun Road. — It was decided to call for tenders for building a school at Rowan Road, according to plans and specifications made by the Architect. Filzroy School. — The Fitzroy Committee wrote accepting the Board's offer of £200 towards building a residence. — The Architect was instructed to prepare plans for the residence. Norfolk Road. — The Inglewood Committee wrote asking the Board to provide a tank and oven for the Norfolk Road School residence. — It was decided to supply an oven, and the Architect was instructed to report on the water supply. --- Architect. — Mr Sanderson was appointed architect to the Board for the year ending December 31, 1892, at a salary of £62. Midhirst.— Mr S. M. Scott, of Nelson District, was appointed Jioad master of the Midhirst School; appointment to date from January 22 Residence Question. — It was resolved to allow bead teachers £10 per annum where no residence was provided. Resignations — Miss McKay's and Mr Williams' resignations as teachers 6f*the Bird Road and Cardiff Road schools re* Bpcctiveiy woro accepted. Steps will be taken to fill the vacancies. ■ • Transfer. — It was decided to aftix the seal of the Board to tl o transfer of sec 199, Inglewood, to Martha Jane Julian. Inspector's salary. —It was decided that from January 1, 1892, the Inspector's salaiy be £300 por annum, and an allow anco of £75 for travelling. Central School. — Miss A. W. Arrow was appointed first assistant mistress at tho Central School, appoiutment to dato from February 1, 1892. Miss L M. Allison, of Christcliurch, who was appointed to the position, wrote that she could not accept tho appointment on account of the illness of her mother. Accounts — Accounts amounting to £46 6s 9d woao passed for payment. The Board adjourned.
