, ance of buyers, and prices were more irregular than at the first auction. Inferior wools were at times lower a farthing, bnt best wools in some instances a halfpenny per lb higher. A few lots were withdrawn at ' sale, but with exception of five bales all were disposed of aiterwaxds. 613 baleß were catalogued. Cattle, Sheep, ko. — Messrs Buckland & Sons report that at the country cattle sales, held respectively at Pokeno and Drury, cattle I were yarded in usual number; stole cittle of all classes were in brisk demand, and dairy cows were better worih— it Remuera on Thursday (Dec 17) dairy cattle were ie full number, and sold freely; g od animals nearly calying were from £4 to £5 7s 6d each. Store cattle in usnal supply, and were at late values. Fat calves plentiful— 7s yarded; prices at first were lower 2s each, but rallied as tho sale proceeded— prices for good calves varied from 12s to 28s ench. Fab cattle were in less than usual number— 2oo gold— ad were somewhat irregular in value; steers advanced 2a, snd all of good quality ware steady at 18s the lOOlbs, but unless of very choice quality cows were no batter worth, and prices ranged from 119 to 1 6s the ICOibs. Sheep were in full r umber — 1000 sold—and mostly of good quality; pricei for wethers were Is and ewes 2s each lower than hitherto. Lambs were plentiful — 530 yarded — but appear to have suffered from the drought ; a few peis of choice quali y brought frjm 11s to 14s, but the greater patt, although well grown, were lower in price mlly 2s, and prices ranged from 6s toßs each. Figs were plentiful,and dull of sale; well-bred ,pigs were from 2ed to 3d the lb dead weight, — Messrs Hnuter & Nolan report that there was a moderate muster of cattle at Newmarket yards on Tuesday (De 3 15). Competition was steady throughout, there being an upward rendenoy oa fat stock; Dairy cows sold at from £3 10b to £S 17s 6d. Some averages for fat steers were : £7 18s, £7, £6 12s 61, £6 8s 6d, £5 7a Cd; cows, £4 15s, £4 ss, £3 17s 6d, £3 2a 6d. Sheep: There was a large muster of fiheep at the Newmarket yards on Tuesday; wethers sold at from 12s 61 to 15s; ewes 8s 3d to 13s 9J; lambs plentiful and sold at from 6s 6d to 12s 6d. Fat pigs in short supply, and sold At from 2d to 2&d per lb live weight.
