At 'the Haymarket, on Saturday, pigs made good prices, slips realising 4s to 7s. good do. 7s 6d to 9s. On Wednesday I held a clearing eale of Mrs Bowen's iurniture, when there was a good attendance^, and good prices on the whole wero realised. Cattle.—The yards at Stratford were packed on Tuesday; 1100 head were entered, but many moro wero mustered. Ii was a grand sale, nearly every pen being'sold at tho hammer. There* were somfi vofyi.nice "pens-of steers, "and they •wer&-well*compoted for, a number of good buyOTS being up from Manaia and Hawera. All classes of young cattle sold at extreme prices. Heifers in calf wore not quite ao saleable. Dairy cows sold extremely well. Calves made 35a to 455, yearling steers £2 lQato.£2 los, mixed yearlings £2 12s "Gd, yearling heifers £2 10s, 18 months steers £3, 18 months heifers £2 16s 6d, 2-years heifers in calf £3 2s 6d, 2-year steers £3 58 to £3 10s; a nice pen of well bred 18xnonths to 2^ steers, from Mr T. M. Smith, £4 12s 6d; and some splendid steers,from Mr Sinclair and Mr Gibbons, made £4 14s 6d and £4 16s 6d respectively; dairy cows as high as £6 10s to £7 5s ; fat (cowp £4 5s -to £4 6s, young bulls £2 15s to £4, heifers in calf £3 ss.—The yards at Waiwakaiho,on Thursday, were again fu 1; bidding was not quite so lively for young stock; steers sold well, and heifers made a great jump, every pen being snapped up. Beef was also ba ily wanted. Calves 32s to 403, yearlings 42s to 50s, 18-months steers £3, 2 to 2A-years steers £3 14s Gd to £4 4s 6d, heifers in calf £3 9s to £4, springing to £5 17s 6d, store cows £3 3a, to £3 12s 6d, in calf to £3 17a 6J, fat to £4 '63, ewes and lambs 16s, working bullocks £10.
