Definition of a Hack. — A horao that has never won an advertised race (Hack and Hunter Races excepted), and is not nominated at time of start, and has not, during the six months previous thereto, been nominated for any race (Haok and Hunter Races excepted). The Rules of Racing, as adopted by tho Metropolitan ClubtJ in New Zealand strictly adhered to. The Committee holds to itself the right to make any alterations in the programme that might be found necessary. Nominations for nil events must be in the hands of the Secretary (G. Baxter), or Treasurer (M. Bourke jun.), one hour before the event takes plaoe, and performances for the last t<vo years. Protests ainst be in writing nnd lodged with the Secretory within ten minutes of the declaration of the Judge. Each, protest must be accompanied by a deposit of 10s (ten shillings), which EUin shall bo forfeited if not upheld by the Committee, whose decision shall be final. Notioe. — A special permission has been granted by the Taranaki Jockey Club, so that any horse running in the Hack Races will not be disqualified.
