The s.B. Mahinapua leaves the breakwater for Manukau on arrival of the express train to-night. Mr G. Corke, who received a severe injury to his knee a few weeks ago, returned from a trip to Auckland this (Tuesday) morning. We are pleased to notice that he has sufficiently recovered from his injury aa to be able to walk about without a stick. Past Masters Murphy and McAllum, of the Ngamotu Lodge, N.Z.C, of Freemasons visited Patea on Monday for the purpose of installing the W.M. of the Patea Ki'winning Lodge, N.Z.C. Thero was a good gathering of the fraternity, including visitors from Hawera and elsewhere. The Ngaraotu Lodge will go to Hawera on Thursday, 10th inst, to attend the annual meeting of Lodge Hawera. N.Z.C. The R M.S. Aorangi arrived at Wellington at 5.30 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning. She left Plymouth, October 17 ; Teneriffe, October 23 ; Cape, November 7 ; and Hobart at 7 p.m. on Thursday list. The voyage was uneventful. She had moderate weather to Hobart, thence to Cape Farewell, strong northerly wind with heavy rain. She has 142 passengers for New Zealand ports, and brings 236 bags and 2 packets of mails and 30 boxes parcel post. Passengers for New Plymouth are : — Miss A. IS. Morris, Messrs S. G. Barber, J. Caddy, H. Henderson and Roe. Colonel Stapp haß acknowledged, says the Marton Mercury, the handsome illustrated photographic address presented to him- recently by the Royal Rangitikei Rifles, in tho fol'owing terms:— "The picture arrived in good order, and it was a gr at surprise to me to be the recipient of such a beautiful work of art. When Captain Skerman promised me a photo of the gallant corps, I had not the slightest idea that I should get a picture of such handsome designing. I can assure you that I shall prize it as long as I live, it will be something for my dear ones to revere when I am gone, and they can truthfully say it was given to me as a mark of esteem, and also to ono who for 49 years strove to do his duty. In conclusion, I wish to return my most sincere and grateful thanks to the officers, non-commissioned officers, and members of the Royal Rangitikei Rifle volunteers for their handsome present.
