OLD MEN'S HOME.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—My attention has been drawn to Mr F. P. Corkill's action in the Borough Council as regards my letter which appeared in your paper anent the Old Men's Home. Mr Corkill aaked the Council if they intended to take action in the matter. His Worship the Mayor, who is also chairman of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, replied he did not think it worth the Council's while to do that, but it would be the duty of the Charitable Aid Board to do so. Has Mr Corkill allowed his indignation to get the better of his discretion ? What has tho Council to do with the matter? Let him, in his place at the Board, take what action he may think proper, and having put his hand to the plough not look back, but go straight ahead. 1 gave good advice and information to act on, for I think it would be advantageous to all concerned to stir the dirty pool, and you may be surprised at the result.—l am, &c, R. Snell.
