It is reported that the railway authorities are now making girders for a new bridge to replace tho wooden viaduct over tho Carrington Road. The authorities also, it is reported, intend to put a new bridge over tho line in Liardet-stroet, and this will enable the Borough Council to bring that Btreet to its proper level. At tho Land Board Meeting to-day (Monday) there were two cash applications for land (area 2 acres), one in def cried payment for 830 acres, and 14 in perpetual lease for 9,988 acres. There is only one section now remaining opon in the block at Mimi which was recently put into the market. All persons suffering from defective sight should get spectacles from J. H. Parker, watchmaker, jeweller, & optician, Devon-street, New Plymouth.— N.B. Tho strength of tho sight is tested by the " Patent Optometer," and suitable glasses supplied. — Advt.
