Mr W. Murray delivered his promised lecture on " Electricity " before the Mutual Improvement Society on Thursday night to a very appreciative audience. The President, Rev P. W. Fairclough, was in the chair. The subject was handled by the lecturer in a highly scientific manner, and as much information as was possible to crowd into the short space of time at the lecturer's disposal was placed before tho audience in a masterly manner. At the conclusion of the lecture a hearty vote of thanks to the lecturer was moved by Mr i McDiannid, seconded by Mr J. C. George, and eariied with acclamation. It is tho intention of the Committee to hold no meeting on Thursday next, and to formally close tho session with an entertainment on October 1. Attention is directed to a second lot of English Travellers Samples bought at a big discount off English cost, consisting of men's merino and lambs-wool shirts, pants and hosiery, working shirts, regatta and white shirts, and a splendid lot of ladieß cashmere hose, umbrellas, and a choice lot of towels, quilts, and colonial blankets, which will be sold regar-'less of cost during the next few days, as they must be clean d to make room for new goods.
