PUPIL TEACHERS' EXAMINATION.
At the Education Board meeting to-day (Wednesday), Mr Murray, the Inspector of Schoo's, tabled the following report j with respect to the pupil teachers' examination. The Inspector said, " I have to inform the Board that at tho annual examination of pupil teachers the undernoted obtained the required number of marks to pass in their respective grades :—: — First Year (Maximum, 710 marks). — Laura Mynott (Central School), 647 ; Edith Reeve (Inglewood), 608 ; Lilian Hall (Norfolk Road), 534 ; Kuto Smith ' (Central), 507; Margaret Irvine (Stratford), 475 ; Constance llundle (Bell Block), 468 ; Ida Batten (Waitara), 460. Second Ybak (maximum 750). — Agnes Eustace (Okato), 543 ; Isaac West (Tikorangi), 517 ; Alice Stockley (Fit/.roy), 495 ; Gertrude Carnck (Waitara), 464. Third Year (maximum 800). — William Daveney (Midhirst), 579 ; Clara King (Stratford), 548 ; Rose Cowling (Frankley Road), 509 ; Laura Reed (Midhirst), 508. Fourth Year (maximum 880). — Violet Gayae (Fitzroy), 724 ; Adelaide Rennell (Central), 600. In the first year Laura Mynott and Edith Reeve take the first and second positions. Their papers aro highly commendable, and their instruction has been well supervised. ■ There are three failures in the second. Two passes here, however, are deserving of mention — Agnes Eustace (Okato School), whoso papers aro full of promise, and Isaac West (Tikorangi School). Several subjects had been poorly prepared by the majority of the third year pupil teachers. The answers were very frequently weak in form. The best papers were done by William Daveney (Midhirst). Violet Gayne (Fitzroy) takes a very high position in tho fourth year. Her papers show much intelligence, along with unusual diligence. In connection with the examination, I report that Marion Cooper, of New Plymouth, sat as a candidate, and qualified in the first year's examination, tier marks are 480. Miss V. Gayno's term of apprenticeship has expired. Kindly authoriso the secretary to obtain a District License for her." There wero 23 pupil teachers an! one candidate up for the examination. Of these 17 and the candidate passed. Tho Board decided to issue tho District License to Violet Gayne.
