CAN CANCER BE CURED.

COUNT MATTEI CHALLENGES THE DOCTORS.

A very interesting articlu appears in the January number of ; tho lievleio of JRei)telo9 on tho subjeot of one of the most torrible oE all diseases, "Oanoer." The medical Faculty have hitherto plainly declared it to be "incurable." What n horrible significance that word has 1 Count Mattel, an Italian nobleman, clnims to have cured cancer not in one but in many instances. He is a rich man who began a course of scientific study at middle age, and the first due to, his alleged wonderful medicine is said to have been arrived at watohing a sheep dog nfflioted with a virulent attack ot mange. This dog absented itself daily, and curiosity led Mattel to follow it ; when he found that it made for the mountain and there scratched up and ate a particular root. Mr Stead, the editor of the Hevlew of Revicict, heard so much from persons of note as to the efficacy of Mattei's treatment, that in the public interest he went over to Bologna to interview the count, and relates the result of his researches. Should Count Mattei's specific > prove to ! be all that isclai<nud for it, it will no doubt become as great a public boon as the famous St Jacobs uil, which has effected so many marvellous oares in oases of nervous affections, such as rheumatism, neuralgia, muscular contusions, |&o.
