PLEASURE GROUNDS AND GARDENS.
There are two lawn tennis grounds in New Plymouth, with good lawns ; and many private gardens which are kept in excellent order. Perhaps tho most extensive and attractive of the latter is that owned by Mr H. Weston, at the west end of the town, where there is just sufficient admixture of neatness in the lawns and flower beds to set off the luxuriant and irregular beauty of the shrubberies and thickets. There is nothing stiff, and nothing unnatural.
