FUNERAL OF MR G. P. PIERCE.
| PER PBBSS ASSOCIATION.! Auckland, May 21. —The funeral of the late Mr G. P. Pierce took' place on Wednesday afternoon, and was a most imposing ceiemony, all the Masons and p.-oininent citizens being present. The coffin was carried from deceased's residence to St. Sepulchre's • .hurch, the Masons lining the road. A service was held in the church, and the funeral procession then started for Purewa cemetery, where the remains were interred.- ;Bishop Cowie conducted' the service there, and Dr Kidd the Masonic funeral ceremonies. The Masonic craft was fully represented. A hymn was sung at the grave by the children of St. Stephen's Orphanage, of which institution Mr Pierce was an officer.
The first general meeting of creditors in the estate of Albert Bishop which was convened this (Friday) afternoon, lapsed for want' of a. quorum, and waß adjourned till Saturday.
