In the census returns the increase of the whole Colony has been 7*l, but the North Island has increased its population by 9*4 and the South by 49, the figures being exactly reversed. If we had kept our increase from natural causes snd imnii gration we shonld have registered au increase of 15*5. Instead of having 90,000 more people, we have added but' 40,000 to the number. Important to tho public. F. J.
