At the Education Board meeting to-day (Wednesday) Miss Jonas was temporarily appointed assistant mistress to the Waitara School at £1 per week, and Mr French temporarily to the Lower Kent Road at £2 per week. Mr Murphy, Customs oflicer, held an enquiry at Waitara this (Wednesday) afternoon into the stranding of the Maaaia near the river ba<: recently. The meamor is now off, and berthed at the quay. The jury in Corkin's case returned into Court at 3 o'clock with a verdict of guilty.
