LONDON PRODUCE REPORT.

Mr G. H. Scales, of Wellington, received by the last mail the following report, issued by Scales and Co., of Fonchurcn-street, of the New Zealand butter and cheese market in London :: — '♦ London, 4th October, 1890. Butter — We have a tairly active market, with a good demand for all fine qualities! at steadily advancing rates. Very little New Zealand or Australian is now offering and the few parcels that have been placed oa the" market have * been of tbe lowest description, and only saleable at grease pricoH. supplies of low class American and Canadian now on hand and still to come forward, there is no doubt that second and third rate qualities New Zealand will be very difficult to sell at all, and will only realise unsatisfactory rates. We strongly advise that only finest new butter should ' be shipped to this market. We quote Normandy, 100s to 116s ; Dutch, 90s to 100s ; American, 50s to 90s ; New Zealand, none. Cheese.— This market is also just now fairly good, and new American are selling fieely at rather better prices. Late arrivals of New Zealand have been mostly indifferent, some mere rubbish, and we must recommend great caution in the selection for the English trade, for all the finest sorts are likely to find buyers at remunerative prices. We quote AmericanCanadian, 38s to 50s ; Dutch, 46s to 54s ; New Zealand, 30s to 48s.
