The strike of the slaughtermen does not affect the meat trade, as there is plenty of free labor available,
Sydney, November 19. In the House of Assembly last night, Thos Walker, the member for Northumberland, moved the introduction of a bill authorising the Government to grant loans to Trades Unions, for the purpose of establishing business on the coopeiative principle. The motion was lost by a large majority.
From a telegram received by Mr Parsons, the Major of Wanganui, it is stated that His Excellency the Governor intonds visitiDg Wanganui and New Plymouth next month.
