HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met on Wednesday. Present: Messrs Bellringer (Chairman), Heslop, Hurleyj T. Elliot, Corkill, Malone, and McGregor. Donatwn.-r-'Kx Heslop handed in a sum of £20 as a voluntary donation to the Board from the Black Lily Minstrels, of Normanby. — A resolution of thanks was passed. Required. — The surgeon applied for a supply of charge pots and zincs for the hospital battery. — The articles will be provided. Taturaimaka. — THo Secretary stated enquiries had been made concerning the Clarke family, at Tataraimaka, and it was found that they were not in urgent need of assistance. — The secretary was instructed to make further enquiries, and if necessary issue an allowance. Maintenance. — In answer to a letter, M. Stuart will be informed that he is to pay the 2s 6d per week towards his parents' maintenance to the Boaid. An Account. — The Rev. J. Mclntosh wrote, asking that the maintenance on account of W. Kent, of Ngaire, be struck out. — The Board held the matter over for consideration. /Supporting Father. — Letters were read from J. King's solicitors and A. B. King both of Hokitiki, respecting the maintenance of their father at Waitara. The lotter stated that they could not pay the amount due to the Boajd, or make an allowance. — No action was taken. Debtors. — A list of persons indebted to the Board was considered, and it was resolved, "That the Clerk be instructed to make a final demand upon those debtors to the Board who are reported as being able to pay, and, that if the demand be not oomplied with by August 7, that the secretary take legal proceedings for the recovery of the amount due by them." Mouse Committee Report. — The Houße -Committee who met on Saturday July 5 I reported, " It have been represented by the surgeon that certain alterations in the operating theatre and two other rooms, through the erection of the verandah are absolutely necessary in the interest of the ■ patients, and should be undertaken without- delay. ' On the motion of Mr Price it was agreed, "That the Chairman be authorised to arrange for the Decenary wlter ■* oos forthwith?' Oatliswetiyn of
Mr Elliot the Chairman was authorised to employ necessary labour required in the grounds. James Bellringer, Chairman. — The minutes were adopted. Books for Hosp>tal. — The secretary was instructed to convey the thanks of the Board, to the Omata Library Committee for their donation of books.' Fitsroy. — The chairman was instructed to dispose of certain property at Fitzroy. Believing Natives. — A letter was received from the Wanganni Board on the question • of the liability of Boards to relieve natives. Accounts. — Accounts — Hospital, £252 Is 7d ; CharitAble, £91 7s 4d ; Hawera Cottago, £30 08 6d ; Industrial Schools, £37 7b 8d ; travelling expenses, £4 18s 8d — wore then passed for payment. The Board adjourned.
