BOYCOTTING A BOTCHER. Auckland, July 12. The Inspector of Abbatoirs, Mr J. Robinson, has been informed by the butchers that if he grants a slaughtering license to anyone employed by Mr Hill, who has come under the ban of the Master Butchers' Association, they will prohibit all work now done at the city abbatoirs. Mr Robinson, however, has received an application from Wilson, an employee of Hill, for a license, and asked the City Council whether he can legally refuse the application. The Council have referred the matter to the Finance Committee. COAL MINE STRIKE IN WBSTPORT. Westpokt, July 12. There is some fear of a difficulty at theDenniston coal mine. The manager has discharged a man, and the Union demand his reinstatement, or the men will cease work on Monday. A NOVELIST TURNS ACTOR. Dunedin, July 11. David Christie Murray has now decided to adopt the stage as a profession. WASTE OP TIME IS PARLIAMENT. A memorial has been sent to the City members, signed by a number of leading citizens, protesting against the waste of time in Parliament and bidding them get on with the work of the country.
