SMELTING THE IRONSAND.
TO THE EDIfOL. Sir, — If you will be so very kind as to put the writer in communication with some one or other of the companies that have been formed for the purpose of smelting and working the ironsand known as " Taranaki sand" you will confer a great favour. Having spent some time in experimenting on a sand somewhat similar, that is found in small quantities on the coast of Maine, in America, I have discovered several methods of smelting with and without flux, and can easily show how it can be worked in the cheapest manner. My intention in coming to this colony was to save money to patent my discoveries, and form a company to work this very rich ore. I tried one sample of New Zealand ore with good success. — I am, &c, Davis Love. Melbourne, July 3, 1890. F.S. — A letter will reatb me, care of Mr H. M. Henry & Co., Little Flindersstreet, Melbourne.
