MB. NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION AND PRODUCE REPORT. At the Haymarket, on Saturday, pigs made from 2s 6d to 7s, according to size and breeding. Owing to the rain, few horses offered, £4 being top price realised. At the mart fowls made 9d to Is Id, potatoes 2s to 4s, onions to Id, bacon (inferior) 2d to 3d, hams 4d to 6d, fowl wheat 3s, sugar 2id to 3^d, flour Bs. Sundries and furniture made fair prices. Fruit. — At Friday's sale Tahiti oranges made 9s, cooking apples 6s, eating apples 6s 6d to 7s. Cattle. — At Stratford, on Tuesday, the yards were again well filled with cattle and sheep. All classes of steers were well competed for, and in some caseß extreme prices obtained — the majority weie sold at the hammer. Female stock were hard of sale, and were quitted with difficulty. Very small calves made 5s to 6s, ordinary calves 10s 6d, yearlings 14s to 18s, 18months steers 26s to 28s, 2-year-old steers 348, empty store heifers 23s to 28s, fat cows £2 15b to £3 3s, springing cowb £2 to £3 ss, 18 - months to 2 yearold heifers 25s ; old ewes, in low condition, ss; lambs, rather small, 5s sd. — At Rahotu on Thursday the yards were full; prices for young stock were very satisfactory, and for store cows. — Mr Williams' dairy cattle sold at low rates, the horses and sundries at fair prices ; calves made 8s to 15s; yearlings 17s 6d to 225, empty heifers and cows 35s to £2 6s 6d, dairy cows £1 12s 6d to £3 12s 6d, cull ewes 3s 6d to 4s 4d, draught made £9 5s to £10 10s, hack £2 12s 6d. Land. — In conjunction with Mr H. N. Liardet I sold section 7, Toko, 211 acres, and deferred payment section adjoining, to Mr Richmond, late of the Hutt. Produce. — There is more enquiry for butter of all descriptions, limited quantities of fresh only coming forward.

The sharemarket has been dull, and no local transactions to report during the week. Bank of New Zealand shares have Buffered a heavy drop again, and close with sellers at 85s, buyers offering 82s.
