MILITARY SETTLERS AND VOLUNTEER LAND ACT.

TO THB EDITOR. Sir, — I notice that the Commissioner for Crown Lands for the Wellington Provincial District has been taking evidence at centres throughout tbe Wellington Province, under " The Naval and Military Settlers and Volunteer Lund Act, 1889." Surely the old soldiers in this Provincial District are entitled to some consideration. I feel sure that you will kindly call attention to this matter in their interest in the columns of the Herald and Budget. In all probability the Government will be induced to instruct the Commissioner for Crown Lands to visit the different centres of population throughout the Provincial District in order that justice shall at last be done to our brave defenders in the past. 1 trust also that you will use your best endeavours to prevent technicalities being allowed to stand as a bar to substantial recognition for services rendered. — 1 am, &c,

F. McGrIHBE,

Mount Royal, Hawera, May 24, 1890.
