FATAL ACCIDENT AT HAWKE'S BAY.

Napier, April 28. — News was received last night of the discovery of the dead body of Ernest Peter, on the bed of the Tutaekuri river, below a cliff 30 feet high. The deceased is the son of the Hon. W. S. Peter, of Ashburton, Canterbury, and was visiting Hawke's Bay with the object of purchasing country property. He left town on April 14, and has never since been heard of till tho discovery of the body. His horse was found on April 17 tied to some manuka scrub some little distance off the road, about four miles from Puketapu at which place the deceased was seen to pass through on April 14th. On Saturday it was learned that the horse had been found, the po i: ce then instituted a search, and the body was also found.

A telegram dated Auckland, 2.50 p.\u., to-day, states that the 'Frisco mail boat is signalled.
