MR. NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION AND PRODUCE REPORT.

At the Hayruarket, on Saturday, few pigs came forward, and these were difficult to quit, slips making 2s to 2s 6d, good stores 9s Gd to 11s 6d. Horses were dull, prices ruling from 15s to £4.

At the mart fowls made lOd to Is, potatoes 3s to 3s 6d, damaged maize 2s, sharps 6s 6d, oacon 2d to 3£d, tea 13s 6d to 15s

6d. A lot of sundries and furniture sold at fair rates.

Fruit. — Fruit has been » plentiful, and owing to the bad weather there has been little demand. Prices havo consequently ruled low at this week's sa?e. Oranges made 5s 6d to 7s according to quality, bananas in bad order H to £d per lb, good do 2d. Land. — Section 117, Omata, advertised for Saturday last without reserve was after considerable competition knocked down to Mr H. Loveridge at 26s per acre. Cattle. —At Inglewood, on Tuesday, owing to the rain, there was only a small muster of stock; bidding for young cattle was dull, and several pens were passed in at the hammer, but, with one exception, were all placed privately after the auction. Calves made 5s to Bs, 18-months heifers 16s. — At my fortnightly Bale at Waiwakaiho, on Thursday, the yards were crowded with all classes of stock. Calves were dull of sale, and several penß were passed out. Good yearlings to 18-months steers were in better demand, and most of this class changed hands. Calves made 2s 6d to Bs, yearlings 10s 6d to 15s, 18months steers 26s to 27s 6d, 2-year steers 355, heifers in calf 265, 18-months heifers 16s to 17s 6<l, springers 37s 6d to 40s, cows £2 5s to £3 10s, fat cows £2 2s 6d to £2 15s, old ewes 4s 6d.

Produce — Potatoes: crops are said to be much lighter than last year, but as the area in crop is heavier, it is probable th« outturn will about equal last year. It is somewhat early yet to make a guess at the probable price for the main crop. Onions, plentiful and flat.

Land — I have an enquiry for asoto 80 acre farm, partially improved, within about 10 miles of New Plymouth. I have to report the sale this week of a section of 80 acres, Monmoiith Road, Stratford, to Mr Fookes.
