WIRTHS COLOSSAL CIRCUS.

Tn c proprietors of this circus have chartered one of the Union Company's steamers to carry the Company, horses &c, from Greymouth to New Plymouth, and will open here on Saturday next with a matinee. Writing respecting this Company, tho Marlborough Exj.ress says :— " The proprietors of Wirth's circus "are an enterprising quartet of brothers, sons of a circus musician. They and their sisters were " born and brought up," as the saying goes, "under canvas," and have .ill their lives been associated with sawdust and spangles, and they are therefore particularly well qualified to conduct a business of this kind. The brothers divide the work among them, and each is proficient in every branch of it, from check taking to bare back riding, or cornet playing. The members of tho family are in fact all members of tho Company. Formerly their mother used to travel with them and look after the wardrobes ; now, however, she has quitted the wandering life, nnd is settled down comfortably in Sandhurst (Victoria). Mr Manager Wirth. who is to use an expressivo phrase " all there " has a good deal of foresight and the speculative faculty. lie says Australia is a worn out field for circuses, and that the only novelty that will pay there now is a Wild West Show ; " and acting on this theory the brothers are sending one of their number to America to arrange for the formation of such an exhibition, and the transport of it to the colonies. Meantime the Company will go on its tour till winter approaches. Then they will lay up in the North, and await the return of summer to take the road again.
