The latest news from Bourke is that the railway line is in danger of being washed away. The Hoods at Walgett are subsiding.

The position of Bourkc is very critical, as there is a wall of six feet of water all round the town. The embankment recently thrown up, sprang a leak to-day, but by smart work it was stopped before any serious damage was done. The railway line was cut away to save the line and relieve the town and embankments.
