HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

Destitute Family. — Mr Hislop made a statement as to Mrs Jones and family, of Okaiawa, who were in destitute circumstances, and to whom he had given an order for temporary relief. — The Board decided to grant 10s per week. — Mr Ilislop was also authorised to expend a sum not exceeding £2 for absolute necessaries for the family. Indisposition. — A telegram was received from Mr Hurley regretting his absence on account of indisposition. Aid List. — Mr Corkill brought up several cases on the aid list, which he would like to see 1 educed — The question was discussed, but nothing was arrived at. Information — lleplies lo a copy of a circular sent to all other hospitals in New Zealand were received. The circular was with reference to getting information as to supply and dispensing doings at the other hospitals. Resignation. — A formal letter was received from Mr J. C. Noes (7), Messrs McGregor, Price, Hislop, J. Elliot, T. Elliot, Corkill, and the Chairman. — The motion was then put, and carried. Hospital Verandah. — It was decided, on the Chairman's motion, seconded by Mr J. Elliot, "That the sum of £70 having been contributed by the public for the purpose of erecting a verandah at the hospital, the Board authorise the Chairman to call for tenders for the erection of the same; such tenders to be in by the next meeting of the Board, at uoon." ' ecretaryahip. — The Board went into Committee to consider applications for the appointment of secretary. The following applications were read: — R. iSnell, J. A. Hill, J. Wells, J. Earp, W. Nieholls, E. Hopkinson, W. J. Shaw, J. 11. Quinlan (Auckland), M. Uopson, E. 11. M. Alford, G. 11. Herbert, A. B. K. Fookes, C. T. Mills, C. F. Crawford, 11. J. Blinkhorn, W. Hinnphrios, W. F. Gayne, and O. Deacon. — On resuming, the Board appointed Mr C. T. Mills. Accounts. — Accounts: travelling expenses £4 15k Bd, hospital £03 11s 7d, charitable aid £40 0s Bd, Industrial Schools £39 os 6d, and Hawera Cottage Hospital £20 lls 5d — were passed for payment.
