A YOUNG LADY CRUSHED.

MISS FEATHERSTONE BADLY INJURED. A very serious and painful accident occurred in Auckland on Thursday about noon to Miss Emma Featherstone, eldest daughter of Mr T. Featherstone, the wellknown owner of the steam yacht Nautilus. The girl was almost crushed to death and is now lying in a very precarious condition. The mishap occurred just as Mr Featherstone was bringing the Nautilus alongside the small wharf at his residence in Lucas' creek, up tne harbour, alter a visit to town. Miss Featherstone, who is a girl of about sixteen years of age, was standing on the deck of the yacht, and as the Nautilus swung round with the tide broadside on to the wharf she leaned over the side with the object of endeavouring to pass a chain round the corner pile of the tee. By some means, however, she was dragged over the rail and in an instant was between the pile and the vessel's side. She would have fallen into the water and thus escaped comparatively lightly had not tho yacht been swung cbso into the wharf by the tide. The unfortunate girl was crushed terribly between the pile and the steamer, her boily acting just as a ship's fender would have done. The girl's injuries are all internal. No ribs are broken, but the other internal iujuries caused by the crushing are very grave. Miss Featheihtonc is now lying on board the Nautilus at the (Juecn-strcct wharf, it being impossible to move her.
