STRATFORD.

(from our own correspondent.) The re-construoted Town Board met on Wednesday evening, and elected Mr Tocker as chairman after Mr MuLrce had declined the honor, and adjourned until tho date of the next ordinary meeting The change in our local Parliament is looked upon by some as tho commencement of tho 'Millenium, whilst others anticipate a reign of terror My own opinion is that things will go on pretty much as usual. The pressure of domestic duties picvented me from gracing the Hoor on the occasion of the Fancy Dress Ball, but, notwithstanding this apparently overwhelming disaster, the affair appears to have passed off with considerable success. A friend supplies me with the following lißt of tho costumes worn : Mary Queen of j Scots, Mrs Curtis ; Staffordshire Knot, Mrs Schierney ; Spanish Lady, Miss Nelly Gooch ; Leah, The Gipsy Queen, Miss L. Gooch ; Undine, Miss Blair ; Apple Blossom, Mrs Plows ; Italian Peasant, Miss Malone ; Grandmamma, Miss A. Malone ; Lady of Sixteen Century, Miss Monkhouse; Priscilla, Miss Bell ; Columbine. Miss Plews ; Queen Victoria, Mrs Lowe ; Dr Kureem Bux, Mr A. Malone ; Four Handkerchiefs, Mr C. Curtis ; Moor, Mr Adlam ; Harlequin, Mr Carthew ; Gentleman of Eighteenth Century, Mr H. Bell ; Prince Arthur, Mr Vickery ; Clown, Mr T. Taylor ; Butler, Mr Lash ; Bones, Mr Cramer ; Naval Officer, Mr Frank ; Sailor, Mr Webber ; Officer, Mr Pearce.
