EXPORTS FROM BREAKWATER.

The following were the exports from the breakwater for the four weeks ending November 9 : — Butter, 118,4631 b; flax, 1,290 boles; fungus, 129 bales; wool, 15 bales; basils, 1 bale; eggs, 13 cases; cheese, 2 eases; bacon, 7 cases; grass seed, 269 sacks; rape seed, 49 sacks; potatoes, 1465 sacks; meal, 38 sacks; jam, 34 cases ; rhubarb, 8 cases; sheepskins, 35 bundles; tallow, 5 casks; hides, 418; 400 empty butter kegs; 7280 feet timber; 3 kegs honey; 106 head cattle; 15 sheep; 1 horse; 20 pigs; 424 feet sundries. Total, 606 tons 24 feet.

At the Harbour Board meeting on Wednesday the chairman read the draft of a testimonial for Mr G. Rhind, tho Board's Engineer, who a couple of weeks back retired from the Board's service by arrangement. A resolution was passed on the motion of Mr Connett, seconded by Mr Corkill, in effect that the testimonial as drawn up should bo presented to Mr Rhind.

Mrs Thomas Kelly, who is indefatigable in her exertions in collecting subscriptions in aid of " Dr. Barnardo's Homes," writes to us that she forwarded by the direct mail the sum of £16 19s 6d, which has been received by her from the following places: — New Plymouth, Fitzroy, Hua, Bell Block, Tararutangi, Lepperton, Huirangi, Ornate, Oakura, Egmont ViJlage, and Inglewood.

At a meeting of creditors in the estate of Mr J. A. Barr, the Dunedin solicitor, only a few creditors have so far proved. A statement left by Mr Barr was to the effect that his liabilities were £10,000 and his assets £14,000. It was decided that the Assignee take steps to bring the bankrapt back to the colony, and prosecute him criminally. It was decided to give Mrs Barr £100 worth of furniture.

At the Harbour Board meeting on Wednesday, the report of the Reserves Committee contained the following recommendations as to terms for the leasing of the Mount Eliot Reserve :—": — " Thirty yeais period ; the first five years to be rent free; lessees to undertake to remove within the first year all earth from their sites, and to build before the end of the fourth year premises of approved construction to the value of not less than £250," Mr Corkill, the chairman of the Committee, said that the sections should lease well, as there was a steady demand at present for property about the central part of the town.

Gledhill to rent his new building, adjoining their own, until the end of the year. Tho stock is continually being replenished by shipments of now furniture, and all the novelties in fancy ware, china, glassware, Japanese goods, &c. During December botli shops will be open every evening until ten o'elockj when the shilling and sixpenny tables will be filled with fancy goods, a shipment of ten cases of which is expected to arrive in a few days from England. — Advt.
