THE TOTALISATOR. Wellington, October 29. It is very probable another circular will soon be issued from the Colonial Secretary's Department on the subject of the totalisator. It will follow the line that no permit shall be issued to any club which has not complied with the regulations of the racing code recently drawn up by combined clubs on October 22nd, last year. THE UNEMPLOYED. There were 805 unemployed on GoTcrnment works the same date last year. There are now only 225, and of these 152 arc doing piecework on the Otago Central Railway, which cannot very well be taken out of their hands and finished by contract, but by December it is expected they will all be paid off.
