BAXTER'S PROPHECIES.
WARS TO COMMENCE THIS YEAR.
END OF THE WORLD IN 1901.
A three days' prophetic conference was commenced in Exeter (Lower) Hall ou December 12 laßt year, coaveaed by the Rev. Mr Baxter, who has recently recovered from a serious indisposition. In an addreas of considerable power, Mr Baxter quoted I. Thesß. iv., and many other well-known pnssap-es. The last day of the present ago would be on April 19, 1901, and, as the speaker insisted, the second Advent in Maroh, 1896. Among the various points referred to waß that the greatest war ever known ia Europe would happen in 1889 or 1890, chaugiag twenty three kingdoms into ten ; Britain's disasters lud loss of territory before 1892; ascension of 144,000 living Christians to heaven without dying, in March, 1896 ; coming earthquakes, famines, pestilences ; Christ's descent on earth, and the commencement of millennium in Auril. 1901. The next speaker was the Rev. T. J. Malyon, who in a popular and scholarly manner spoke on the subjeot o£ AntiChrist, remarking that opponents of theße prophetic truths might remember that a sneer was not orgument, nor was indifference to be regarded as logic.
Mr Malyon referred, en passant, to the force of Pupal claims as brought out by the perusal of prophetic scripture, maintaining that Rome was gradually veering towards Anti-Christ.
The Rev. H. M. Barnett, 8.A., formerly curuto of St. Jude's Mildmay Park, was among those who co-operated ia the work of tha conference.
