EDUCATION RESERVES BOARD.

Ihb Education Reserves Board met on Friday. Present .• Messrs T. King (Chairman), R. G. Bauchope, and R. Parris.

Surrender.— H. W. Huegelr, of Stratford, lessee of bection 1, block 2, Ngaire. for a term of 21 years, wrote wishing the Board to allow him to throw up the' lease at the end ot the first seven years, which would bo in April next, aa he would not be able to pay the increased rent.— The Board will accept the surrender in April, providing all rent is paid then.

Reduction of Rent—®. Bertrand, of Urenui, made application for a reduotion of rent for a lease from the Board.— This will receive the same consideration as tho similar ones.

Town Section. — T. Lock's tender for lease of town section 1561 for 21 year*two years free and 19 years at 5s per annum, was accepted. Board's Cottages.— Tho Secretary of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board offered Is 6d per week for each of the three cottagea m Barrett-street with allotments ™n a „ y<: arI y tenancy; and Mr ODonnell tendered for one of ? tha cottages for 21 years at £3 *p 9r yea T7r fortner tender was acoepted. A Queer Document— A document wns received from Michael and Matthew QimlHran, two of the Board's tenants at Whenuakura, but as the gist of it could not bo grasped by the members it was referred back to them for inquiry. Frankhy Road Scltool Site.—Yit Samuel solicitor, wrote with reference to tha i< rankley Road now school site, over which he held a mortgage.— The matter was to be referrel to the Education Board. Consideration. — Rhody Slatte'ry, of Manaia, was to be informed in answer to his letter of December 6 that on payment of the back rent the question of the reduction of rent in future would bo considered.

Section at Waimata. — faction 19 Wai mate, was to be let by auction, instructions" to do so to ba given to Mr Coworu, tho lionrd's agent, at Patea. Hobson-street Paddock. — Mr Webber waited on the B mrd with reference to changing tenure of a paddock, in Hobsonatreet, ha held from tho Board to the perpetual lease syystem at the present rental of £5 sa.
