The following is an extract from the letter of an ex-Dunedin resident of lonii standing, who haß recently taken up bis residence in Melbourne :—": — " Did I tell you vhut trouble' I had to get insured. I could not understand why I was refused by two offices. The building was 200 yardß from the nearest, and wus of brkk roofed with iron. One of tho agents i was slightly acquainted with, bo got him to usk why my proposal was refused (us the offices would not tell me or give me tho slightest satisfaction), and he told md in confidence that U was because they did not like to insure unyono coming from Now Zealand unless well known. I wub nearly writing to you to get tho, Standard to tako my risk if the}' have an office bere. However, another New Zealand office took it foe about halt value, and churged me double rates. 11
