There were several of the younj; men present who came to Tnmnuki through Mr Courtney's ngency. Mr Courtney at considerable length dilated as to tbe best mode of packing nnd sending butter to England through the beet agency. He ofttrwurda showed some views hy means of a mugio lantern, Colonel Trimble then ■poke at some length on butter making, and said Mr Meadows wns evidently a thorough business-like man, and knew hie work well. Ho ?ave some sound, lensible, and practical a 1 vice, and intimated that he did not auree with a butter inspector being appointed by the Government, saj ing he did not liko the idea of the Government hiving a floger in tho pie by ndding more taxation on the people. He had been in business for a number of years, and hud a very largo establishment; be therefore considered he should nave some knowledge of the manner iv which business fhoald be conducted. Mr Bewley spoke ns to tho best manner ot making nnd packing butter, anr! cave some found informution ou those subjects. Mr Bewley being a successful butter maker his rrmaiks ghoul t have Boine weight. Colonel Trimble said he considered that thb factory eysti m was a complete fuil ure, owing to the manner in which tho factories wero conducted; but this remark Mr Bewley took excoption to, saying he was of opinion thnt factories would be a success ultimately. Aft;r some questions ha;l been asked Mr Courtney and replied to, the meeting terminated with the usnal vote of thanks to the lecturer and chairman.
