On Wednesday night Mr Gottleib Gobel's steam flour mills, at Pukepapa, near Morton, _ were burned down. The premises are insured, but in what office, and for what amount, is not known. ' Daring tbe bearing of a case in Court to-day (Thursday) the Resident Magistrate intimated to the Secretary of the local branch of the Law Society that he would fix civil cases in which counsel were eDgaged at Waitara and Stratford for a more reasonable time than is his cabtom. Tbe R.M. generally fixes tbe civil sittings of tbe Court at Waitara at 9 o'clock in the forenoon.
