1.0. G.T. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, — Some months back a local was inserted in your morning contemporary to the effect that the Independent Order of Good Templars intended to bold lodge meetings in New Plymouth again. Some short time after the appearance of the above mentioned local, hearing nothing further of the matter, and being desirous of becoming a member of the Order, I made enquiries from one of the leading temperance gentleman of this town, as to when such meetings were to be continued, and was told that he uould give me no further information on the subject than appeared in the local, but stated that wben the meetings were to be started it would be notified through the colums of the Press. Up to the present time I have noticed nothing to that effect, io. either local paper, and write this with a hope that some of your temperance readers may afford some information on tho subject — whether it is intended to hold lodge meetings, or whether nothing is being done in the matter. It may be asserted that owing to the long days and short nights now coaling 09 it would be almost useless to make a start at this time of the year ; but such meetings are held ull the year round in other towns of the colony, why not in Ne-v Plymouth. Apologising for trespassing on your space. — I am, &c, " PERIOrjLTJM IN MORA."
