Pbodtjoe. — Messrs. G. W. Binney and Sons report a weak market for fresh butter, about 8d per lb ; salted butter, market from 6d to 7d ; inferior, 2d to 3d per lb. The Proluce Grocers' Association ' quote the wholesale price of fresh butter at 9d per lb. ; and fresh eggs 6d per dozen delivered ; bacon and hams, provincial, 6d to 8d the lb.; hams 6£d to B£d ; Canterbury bacon (new) 7d ; equal numbers of hams and bacon, bare, 7|d ; hams, B|d; cheese (good local), 6d to 8d; potatoes, £2 to £2 10s the ton ; onions, l|d per lb. Maize is worth 3s 4d; oats, 2s 3d to 2s Id ; milling wheat, 4s Id ; chick wheat, 3s 6d to 3s 9d.

Foddbb, Manubes, &o.— Mr. Buckland reports that at the Haymarket 'on Friday (September 30), loose bay was at lower values, and sold from 2s to 3s 3d , pressed hay, 3a 9d to 4s 6d per cwt ; maize, 3s 6d. Grain, &c— Mr. Buckland reports that on Friday (September 30), oats brought 2s 4d per bushel ; potatoes, £2 Is 6d ; chaff, £4 10s per ton. Hobse Stock. — At the Haymarket sale on Friday (September 30) horse stock were in limited numbers, and anil of sale, sales being to low values, varying from £2 to £12 each.

Binney & Sons report a large catalogue ; prime hides were in demand ; extra stout, 4£dto4£ds'heavy,'4d to 4'f ; medium, 3£ri to 3| ; heavy cows. 3|d ; medium, 3d ; light, 2|d to 2jd ; kip, 3Jd io 3f ; calfskins, 4^d to 5d ; skiua, Is 2d to 5* lOd each ; tallow, 10s 6d to 13s ; bones, 4s 6d to 5s ; shanks, 5s • 6d to 6s per cwt. — Mr, Buckland reports that at his hide and skin sale on Tuesday (October 4), hides were pitched in full numbers, and late prices sustained. Ox hides, 42s 8d ; cows, 31s Id ; calves, 4£d to4|d per lb were the prices obtained for fair quality. Tallow, 13s per cwt ; sheepskins, 3s 8d to 4s lOd ; wool, 3|d to 4Jd the lb. Cattle, Bhebp,&c. — Mr Buckland reports that at Waiuku on Saturday (October 1) there was a full master of cattle, with, a numerous attendance.' Prices, although low, were better than those ruling at Bemuera. At Pukekohe on Monday (October 8) there was a moderate number yarded, but were generally in low condition. Fresh conditioned cattle w^re in fair inquiry ; others at low values. At Bemuera on Thursday (October 6) dairy cows were ' numerous, and those of firsl-class quality were iofair inquiry; others dull of sale. Store cattle were in fall number. Grown cattle maintained fair value, but yearling and two-year-old cattle were at low prices. Fat cattle were in average number, and better worth; prices ranged from 18s to 20s the lOOlbs. Small fat calves sold well, but larger calves were neglected. Fat sheep were in full number, 5 and maintained late values. Fat lambs of best quality ,2s each lower than last week. Lambs ought not to be sent any distance. Pigs' were in short supply, and sold well. Shabk Mabket. — Messrs J Frater Brothers telegraphed to us yesterday afternoon: — Sales: Bauk of New Zealand, £15 10s; Ooloniale, 435; Nation Js, 355; Thames Gas, 345; South British Insurance, 35s 6d ; National 17s 3d: Union, 23s 3d; Auckland Timber, 375; Cambria, 4s 6d; Saxon, as sd; Trenton, Is6d; Caledonian, 3s 9d.
