PEW ZEALAND TELEGEAMS. § I 'JPBR DMTED PBESB ASSOCIATION.] ' A STBANUE CASE. "Welijngton, Ootober 8. A rather unusual case occurred in the civil list at the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning. 'Miss Campbell, a barmaid at the Forester's Hotel, sued Chief Officer Lindsay, of the lonic, for £50 for breaking her arm, medical expenses, etc. It appears there had been a gathering at the hotel, with some dancing, and an acoident occurred when the party were leaving. The plaintiff averred that Lindsay twisted her arm while shaking hands, causing her to fall and break her arm, bnt the defendant alleged that she had swung round of her own accord suddenly and let go, falling in consequence. The Magistrate gave judgment for £5 and oosts. A CHARGE OP ARSON. Chmstohuroh, Ootober 8. At the Polioe Court, today, Greave Deßrun, stationer, was charged with arson, and remanded, bail being refused. A fire broke out in his shop on Wednesday night, but was extinguished before any serious damage was done. The place was insured for £300 in the Victoria Office. The acoused stated that he left a gold watch and £7 in the place, which however, could not be found when the polioe searched the premises.
