The Ladies' Sewing Committee finished their labours at the Education Board Office on Friday evening. A large number of specimens were put aside for"a competition —that is, a choice will be made from these in order to award the special prizes offered by the' members of the Committee. On Friday night wanton damage was done to borough and private property ia Dawson-street, leading towards the hospital, by some persons who will hear more of it anon. The damage was committed in the shape of pulling off gates and throwing them on the. road, and doing likewise to the gratings that protect the pipes at the corner of the streets. Three of these last were pulled ofF and thrown' into the road, leaving unprotected holes, in which some unfortunate pedestrian passing along would slip and twist his ankle, and perhaps then come on the Borough for damages. The police have the matter in hand, and as they have a clue to the perpetrators of this wantom damage, the Police Court will "doubtless be the next phase ia their career. Mr. J.
