THE following SPECIAL PBIZES are offered for competition at the Agricnl* rol Society's next Autumn Show, with the object of inducing the bush formers to turn their attention to the wood, products, which, it is believed, can be profitably manufactured from timber tkat at present is destroyed in the process of clearing forest land. The followirg nre the conditions :— Mr. Henry Wjkston, proprietor of the Taranakt. Heeald and The Budget, will give a prize of £5 6s for the best cample of WOOD TAB produced from native timbers growing in tbe Connties of Taranaki, Clifton, or Hawera, the quantities exnibited to consist of not less than thirty gallons, in a cask of local manufacture, Each exhibit to be accompanied by a clear description of tbe process adopted in its manufacture, acd estimate of cost of production. Five gallons of tbe prize exhibit to be available for analysis and trade tests, Mb. F. P. Cobkill will give a prize of £5 5s for the best sample of f OTASH, produced from native timbers growing- in the Counties of Taraiinki, Clifton, or Hawera, tbe quantity exhibited to consist cf not less than one hundredweight, put up in packages of local manufacture.
