HOSPITAL REDUCTIONS. TO THE EDITOR.

Sib, — Will you kindly allow Bpace for the following. In one' of your late issues I see that the Board decided to curtail expenditure, but in one particular case, viz., that of the wardsman, it appears to me as if they had singled out one of the hardest worked of tbe staff. The reduction from £109 to £70 a year would make those who did not know better imagine that the wardeman was an incompetent person, which I assert, having been in hospital, to be incorrect. He has to be ready day and night to attend the wants of the patients, besides doing his ordinary work, which, I must say, almost amounts to drudgery; end ha is ever ready to do what he can to make patients comfortable. Thiß will be found to be the verdict of everyone who has been in the hospital, i This rran has been in his present employment for eight % ears, and I am informed j that he has never had a single complaint made against him during the whole of that time. If the Board found it necessary to curtail expenditure surely they might, and ought to, have considered the services of such a good servant. Even if they had taken the £25 a year off him, it wonld have seemed more equitable. I trust some one more able than myself will take this matter up, and obtain for a good Bervant a reimbursement of a portion, if not the whole, of the salary which has been taken from him. 1 may state I have not spoken to the wardsman about this matter, but have written this to try and obtain justice to one who richly deserves it. I trust,' Mr. Editor, yon will kindly lend your valuable aid in this matter. — I am, &c, A Late Patient.
