VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
FIRING FOR COMPANY'S CUP. Thirteen members of the Taranaki Rifles assembled at the bults on Wednesday to firo for the Company's Cup, the. ranges being 200 and 300 yards ; 10 shots at each . Handicaps were given in the match. The Cup must be won three times before it can be finally held. Since it has been in competition, which oovers over two years' time, it has been held by Bandsman F. Humphries, Volunteer, F. Bishop, Sergeant Jackson, and now Lieutenant Okey, in the order of their names. Wednesday's match also counted for the five highest aggregates in four matches- (this being the third) that will represent the Company at'Oamaru. The five highest scores were — Lieutenant Okey (scratch), 42, 37 — 79 ; Lance-Corporal Morton (one shot extra), 39, 38—77; Volunteer F. Bishop (one shot extra), 43, 34 — 77 ; Sergeant Jackson (scratch), 43, 32—75 ; Volunteer Cruickshank (two shots extra), 41, 34—75.
