THE NAPIER ELECTION.

The Napier election caused intense excitement, both sides being very confident. When it .was known that Mr. Ormond had won a discreditable scene occurred. When Mr. Ormond appeared on the balcony of the Empire Hotel he was greeted with filthy language by his opponents in the crowd. He was also assailed with stones, several persons on the balcony being hit, though not much hurt. A number of windows were smashed.
